AvePoint Unveils New Compliance Guardian Integration with Office 365 Data Loss Prevention at Microsoft Ignite 2016
AvePoint Compliance Guardian mitigates privacy, information security, and compliance risk across information gateways, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive for Business
Atlanta — September 27, 2016 — From the halls of Ignite 2016, AvePoint, the Microsoft Cloud expert, today unveiled the latest release of AvePoint Compliance Guardian, which allows organizations to take a risk-based approach to protecting enterprise IT systems. Compliance Guardian mitigates risk from the moment data is created through its entire lifecycle by proactive monitoring and neutralizing violations for privacy, security, and compliance.
Organizations can ensure information security across Office 365, SharePoint, file shares, and databases with all-in-one scanning, reporting, and built-in issues resolution. Compliance Guardian provides individualized reports and dashboards surfacing only relevant issues, automatically delegating violations to the right people so they can be addressed quickly. With Compliance Guardian, organizations can take their information security practices further by discovering and classifying sensitive data, defining and proactively enforcing data governance policies, and accessing comprehensive auditing and reporting features.
Seamless Integration with Office 365 DLP Features Provide a Risk-Based Approach to Security
The latest release of Compliance Guardian – available to preview now at Ignite booth #1104 – integrates with native Office 365 Data Loss Prevention (DLP) functionality and APIs to go beyond incident alerts and deliver enterprise-level Data Centric Audit and Protection (DCAP) capabilities across Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Yammer, including:
- Risk-based classification and scoring: Gain visibility of sensitive data across Office 365 and other enterprise systems through automated classification, including the ability to prioritize potential incidents. Track incidents through heat maps generated according to specific regulations and storage targets.
- Incident management for data privacy: Take a proactive stance against potential violations and threats through alerts and interfaces to simplify incident management as well as assign responsibilities to data owners. Go beyond native Office 365 DLP abilities to secure and quarantine potential breaches before they can occur.
- Trend reporting for security audits: Monitor privacy and security threats with continuous scans as files are modified by users. Gather audit and security data through out-of-the-box reports for actionable intelligence on potential breaches across Office 365 and other enterprise IT systems.
“Organizations under the impression that effective data security begins and ends with Data Loss Prevention are often ill-prepared in the event of a breach,” said John Hodges, Vice President of Product Strategy, AvePoint. “The latest release of AvePoint Compliance Guardian allows organizations to not only take advantage of the DLP features Microsoft offers within Office 365, but also take them beyond identifying data leakage to remediate the issue and prove they acted upon it with extensive auditing and reporting as well as prevent leaks before they ever occur.”
AvePoint-led Office 365 Information Security Session at Microsoft Ignite 2016
Hodges will showcase the latest release of AvePoint Compliance Guardian during his session, “So you found an Office 365 DLP violation… now what?”, at 12:40-1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 28, during Microsoft Ignite 2016.
The session will focus on how security and compliance are top concerns for current and future Office 365 customers. Native DLP features have evolved to address this concern and provide a first line of defense to protect organizations from improper handling of potentially sensitive content. Hodges will explain how integrating Office 365 DLP with tools for real-time scanning, incident management, and reporting can complete an Office 365 data governance strategy – providing a powerful, efficient incident management process to review detected violations, assess their impact, and take actions to remediate risk.
