New App Fields Office 365 Workspace Requests In Microsoft Teams
AvePoint’s MyHub enables users to easily provision workspaces in policy without burdening IT
AvePoint (NASDAQ: AVPT), the global leader in data security, governance, and resilience, announced today that Cloud Governance—the number one Office 365 governance SaaS solution which allows organizations to automate the provisioning, management and end of lifecycle of workspaces in accordance with its governance policies—is now generally available to current customers for no additional charge as the MyHub app within Microsoft Teams.
With Cloud Governance, Office 365 users that want to create a new shared workspace, such as a SharePoint site or Microsoft Team, are directed to a SharePoint site or internal web page.
They are then guided through the process with a questionnaire, tailored based on who and where they are. Metadata is attached to proactively apply access, classification, and retention policies upon creation. These requests can then be reviewed and approved by IT or the business owner.
Now with the MyHub app, this user-facing Cloud Governance interface can be surfaced entirely within Microsoft Teams. MyHub’s bot functionality also notifies users with a Team’s chat message when they are required to take action on workspace approvals, recertifications and other to-do items.
Cloud Governance customers can navigate to the Microsoft Teams app store to add the app, and Teams administrators can also pin MyHub to the app bar for all users in their organization.
MyHub is a Microsoft Teams Co-Sell eligible solution and can be registered as a Teams Co-Sell win when an organization has deployed MyHub to more than 300 of its users.
“Cloud Governance and MyHub are a middle path to manage Microsoft Teams. Rather than allow unfettered self-service for creating workspaces and risking sprawl or burdening IT teams with a long list of tedious approval/recertification tasks, we automate governance from creation to end of lifecycle,” said John Peluso, chief technology officer, AvePoint Public Sector. “This improves adoption rates, secure collaboration, and saves IT a ton of time.
Cloud Governance customers have used the solution to control Teams sprawl and mitigate the burden on IT. For example, Prudential Financial reduced the number of weekly SharePoint site and Team provisioning requests manually handled by their IT team by an average of 92 percent.
“We set up Cloud Governance policies to put a renewal profile against sites and teams. We were getting more requests asking which sites belong to which users. This policy and easy reporting have helped us understand and create ownership,” said Robert Young, IT engineer, Prudential Financial. “I’m excited to start exploring MyHub’s capabilities and how it could fit as part of our deployment.”
