Cyberattacks are on the rise, with more and more enterprises falling victim to whims of cybercriminals and hackers. The number one threat: ransomware, accounting for 23% of all cyberattacks on businesses in 2021, according to IBM. 

But what is ransomware? Should you be concerned about an attack? What happens if your organization is attacked?  

Ransomware is a form of malicious software that infiltrates your system, device, or important files, in order to hold your information ransom. It often involves encryption, preventing access to your important data. 

Your level of concern will depend on if you have prevention methods in place and a plan for if your defenses fail. While there is no guarantee that you can avoid an attack, with the right strategies, you can lower your likelihood of becoming a target and victim.
