Index generation fails during Platform Backup with PathTooLongException

If you perform a Platform Backup index generation and it fails, check to see if the backed up filename and specified path are too long.

The following error message in the Media Logs:

ERROR- AvePoint.VirtualDB.Mapping.MediaMappingGenerator 0- Cannot generate mapping file for job. System.IO.PathTooLongException: The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.
 
To address this issue, enable the LongPath parameter settings for the physical device by completing the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Control Panel > Physical Device.
  2. Edit the current Physical Device used for Platform Backup jobs. 
  3. In the Physical Device configuration window, scroll to the Storage Type Configuration section.
  4. Select the Advanced checkbox.
  5. Enter LongPathEnabled=true in the Extended Parameters box.
  6. Perform a Validation Test.
  7. Once the test passes, click OK to save the physical device configuration.
