Details:
A warning appears stating that installing an Agent in a SharePoint 2010 environment could harm SharePoint 2007, as SP 2010 is in BETA.
SYMPTOMS:
This occurred when trying to install the 5.7.0 Agent in a SharePoint 2010 Service Pack 1 environment. The user is able to send the links for the 5.7.0 Agent, so it is expected that the user is using the installation files that were provided.
CAUSE:
This error is caused by using version 5.4.2 to install the Agent. The warning appears because SharePoint 2010 was in BETA at the time. The only way to resolve the issue (since the user cancelled out of the 5.4.2 installation, causing temporary files to be created) is to remove the entries in the registry, search for all of the files with the word docave in them, and delete all such instances.
SOLUTION:
To remove all remnants of DocAve:
- Enter Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features to ensure no DocAve installation still exists. If it does, uninstall it.
- Check Program Files or Program Files (x86) under each drive on the computer to see if an AvePoint directory exists. If it does, delete it.
- Search for all files with the word docave in them and delete all of them on every hard drive on the Agent.
- Enter Regedit in a run command to check the registry. In the registry, browse to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\avepoint and remove this if it exists.
- After doing this, install the 5.7.0 version of DocAve.
