Details:
When you access content in SQL, data is retrieved sequentially. If two users attempt to access the same piece of data, the data will be returned the user who requested it first. After the first request has been satisfied, the system will address the second request, and so on.
Using DocAve’s Storage Optimization suite helps to improve SharePoint performance. With a traditional SharePoint request, the user accesses SQL and the data is returned to SharePoint. By comparison, DocAve Extender allows you to store extended content on a file system to improve performance for multiple users. With Extender, the agent retrieves the data from a file system, sends it to SQL, and then sends it to SharePoint. While the DocAve process seems longer, it is actually quicker and reduces stress on SQL databases. Since file systems can be multi-threaded, the requests will be set back to SQL, and multiple user requests can be addressed almost simultaneously.
