AvePoint and International Association of Privacy Professionals Enhance Privacy Impact Assessment Solution
The AvePoint Privacy Impact Assessment solution is now used by more than 2,500 privacy professionals worldwide to automate the evaluation of privacy implications
Jersey City, NJ – December 2, 2015 – AvePoint, the established leader in enabling enterprise collaboration across platforms and devices, today announced the general availability of the latest release of the AvePoint Privacy Impact Assessment (APIA) solution – exclusively distributed by International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). A free solution launched in 2014, APIA is now used by more than 2,500 international privacy professionals to better assess the security of their IT platforms.
“Privacy professionals are always looking for new tools that can help them save time and energy as they try to keep up with the demands that new technologies and business models throw at them,” said J. Trevor Hughes, CIPP, President & CEO of the IAPP. “As privacy impact assessments become more customary, perhaps even mandated in Europe with the new General Data Protection Regulation, having a tool like APIA provides our members with important value.”
APIA mitigates the risk inherent with manual privacy impact assessments, helping organizations understand and automate the process of evaluating, assessing, and reporting on the privacy implications of their enterprise IT systems. The latest APIA templates include:
Export Data from Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs): APIA users can now export data and results from PIAs as a CSV file to use with other systems – increasing the interoperability of the solution.
New PIA Templates: Two new questionnaire templates are now available to help users simplify PIAs and carry out surveys according to recommended best practices. The new templates includes a sample questionnaire to be used when conducting a third-party vendor assessment and determining an organization’s readiness for moving to the cloud.
“From major retailer breaches to identity and healthcare theft, the general public is more aware than ever of the importance of data privacy in all aspects of their online lives,” said Dana Simberkoff, Chief Compliance and Risk Officer, AvePoint. “APIA helps organizations to automate the process of identifying system risk before it has major cultural, financial, and business implications.”
