AvePoint Enhances Self-Service Request to Empower Microsoft SharePoint Business Users with DocAve Governance Automation
The latest release enables users to request sites with approved business templates and makes request processes more customizable to fit organizational requirements and policies
AvePoint (NASDAQ: AVPT), the global leader in data security, governance, and resilience, today announced the general availability of DocAve Governance Automation Service Pack (SP) 9. With the latest release of AvePoint’s SharePoint governance solution, organizations can empower end users with the ability to make the correct decisions and requests based on governance policies and remove some of the burden from IT administrators.
DocAve Governance Automation allows organizations to easily manage and automate SharePoint lifecycle and permissions management requests to implement an extensible governance strategy that empowers users, is easy to maintain, and scales as the business grows. New features include:
Pattern Management: With the latest release of DocAve Governance Automation, organizations can allow users to select fully configured and pre-approved business application templates – known as “patterns” – created through DocAve Deployment Manager as part of site and site collection requests. This improves productivity and self-service from the beginning of a project by providing end-users with required collaboration resources, which can be easily deployed and updated within SharePoint without slowing down business processes. When the business applications are updated with new functionality, users can request deployment of the new patterns to their existing sites. Objects supported through pattern management include sites, subsites, SharePoint apps/add-ins, preconfigured libraries, metadata, and content types.
Conditional Approval Process: With DocAve Governance Automation, organizations can tailor automated SharePoint change management processes to meet internal policies by allowing service requests to be associated with multiple, predefined approval processes – no matter how complex. This ensures that organizations in highly regulated industries that require more oversight can design their self-service requests to meet the needs of all business, technical, and compliance stakeholders.
Manage Permissions Service: Organizations now have the ability to provide a single place for all SharePoint permissions management actions that need to be performed throughout the lifecycle of a deployment. This allows the business to provide a robust alternative to native capabilities within SharePoint that may counteract the governance policies put in place. DocAve Governance Automation also provides a powerful set of permissions management activities appropriate for site owners – which are still subject to governance policies – to reduce the burden on IT.
Customizable Service Request Forms: With DocAve Governance Automation, administrators can customize the text within service request form descriptions to fit the organization’s specifications and overall style – providing better guidance to the user and ensuring the correct decisions are made.
“SharePoint governance initiatives have traditionally fallen on the IT administrator to implement and manage,” said John Peluso, Senior Vice President of Product Strategy, AvePoint. “However, in order to truly encourage enterprise collaboration and SharePoint adoption, site owners and end users shouldn’t be burdened with the nuisances of governance guidance and enforcement. With DocAve Governance Automation, IT can easily empower the rest of the organization with pre-approved resources and automated processes designed to remove the burden of policies from business users, while at the same time make it easy to meet their collaboration needs.”
The latest release of DocAve Governance Automation is generally available today, November 1, 2016. For more information on the platform and product features, please visit our website.
