Why did you select SharePoint migration as your session topic, and why is it especially important for the crowd at Ignite?
John Peluso (JP): Organizations have more compelling choices than ever before about their next SharePoint upgrade path. With choice, sometimes confusion and uncertainty exist. I’m going to provide some straight-talk guidance based on what we know of the options right now so informed decisions can be made.
What kind of attendee is this session aimed toward, and what are the main reasons he or she shouldn’t miss it?
JP: This session is intended to be a 200-level discussion, and therefore is relevant for both SharePoint administrators as well as IT executives looking for a clear understanding of their options as well as the pros and cons of each.
If attendees of this session walk away with just one thing, what would you want it to be?
JP: My hope is that they walk away with some actionable ideas to follow up on to begin planning their migration approach.
What is the one thing about Ignite that you’re looking forward to most?
JP: I am greatly looking forward both to more specifics on the vNext on-premises offering, as well as more detail on how Microsoft will be investing in the hybrid story by making it easier for on-premises customers to leverage Office 365 services.
As a seasoned traveler, what are some things you recommend Ignite attendees do in Chicago outside of the conference?
JP: If you can get a table, Gene and Georgetti is a landmark that requires a visit for a steak (or veal…), but one of my favorite things I’ve done in Chicago was an architecture tour from a boat on the river. The city has stunning and very varied architecture that a good guide can help you see.
