Agency’s Progress in Meeting 2019 M-12-18 Deadline
Most rate their agency’s progress in meeting the Managing Government Records Directive
(M-12-18) 2019 deadline to electronically manage all records as “good.” Those whose agencies transferred all eligible records to NARA during FY2018 rate their progress significantly higher than those whose agencies did not transfer all records.
Impressions:
Paul Olenick: An important finding in this survey was the high correlation between agencies who transferred records to NARA and confidence in meeting the M-12-18 deadline. It appears to be a significant predictor of compliance. Agency leaders can get a good handle on the likelihood their agency will make the deadline by asking their record managers if the organization was able to transfer all eligible records to NARA last year.
Alyssa Blackburn: Meeting any government mandate can be challenging so seeing this level of confidence in meeting the M-12-18 deadline is great! While it’s important to take it with a grain of salt, similar to the previous graph, I think this is a reflection of NARA providing very clearly written guidance and also numerous resources. This includes their well attended bi-monthly meetings.
